Welcome Dr. Galen Treuer, Director of Climate Tech and Economic Innovation for Miami-Dade County
Virtual Forum on Climate Linked Economics
On Wednesday, 10/19 at 4 pm ET FinWx will welcome Dr. Galen Treuer to our Virtual Forum on Climate Linked Economics. You are invited to join!
Galen will examine the financial benefits of climate adaptation and the challenges that currently limit options for financing and funding investments that close the adaptation gap, the difference between potential and actual spending on adaptation projects that have a positive return on investment.
Examples will focus on projects and studies in Southeast Florida and how Miami-Dade County is aiming to make forward-looking investments that account for rising heat and sea levels. The aim is to spark a lively conversation about how new data and the increasingly obvious climate impacts change investor risk calculations.
Dr. Galen Treuer leads Climate Tech and Economic Innovation for Miami-Dade County. He works with the private sector to pursue the County's climate resilience goals and catalyze regional investment in blue, green, and climate technology by bringing together a network of entrepreneurs, investors, businesses, academics, and community leaders. He holds a Ph.D. in environmental science and policy from the University of Miami and a B.A. in economics from Oberlin College.
The Forum on Climate Linked Economics strives to create a link between the weather/water/climate communities and the broader community of economists, corporate executives, risk managers, financial planners, insurance professionals, and technology leaders. The Forum builds relationships that drive collaboration between scientists and practitioners.
The AMS Financial Weather and Climate Risk Management Committee (FinWx) strives to form a crossroads where those from the AMS Community connect with professionals from the broader economy.
We seek to create opportunities that develop professionals to leverage their domain expertise to increase enterprise value in all sectors capable of improving financial performance by managing weather and climate risk.
